Bhubaneswar: The Ministry of Home Affairs has ordered advance release of financial assistance of Rs 340.875 crore for Odisha for undertaking preventive and relief measures in response to cyclonic storm ‘FANI’.

Based on the decision of National Crisis Management Committee (NCMC), the amount will be given to the State Disaster Response Fund.

The ministry has also ordered for financial assistance of Rs 200.25 crore for Andhra Pradesh, Rs 309.375 crore for Tamil Nadu and Rs 235.50 crore for West Bengal.

Cyclonic Storm ‘FANI’ is likely to trigger light to moderate rainfall at a few places very likely over south coastal Odisha on May 2 and heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places over coastal Odisha on May 3, 4.

Squally wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is very likely to commence along & off Odisha coast from May 2 and very likely to become gale wind, speed reaching 60-70 kmph gusting to 85 kmph from May 3 morning. It would increase gradually for subsequent 24 hours and decrease thereafter.

Sea conditions very likely to be rough to very rough along & off Odisha coast between May 2 and 4 for which fishermen are advised not to venture into deep sea.
