Cyclone FANI: Relief distribution in Khordha begins

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directed officials concerned to start distribution of relief materials to cyclone-hit people at various places in Khordha district from today.

At the meeting held here yesterday, Patnaik reviewed relief distribution and restoration works in the Khordha and Puri districts. He also had a detailed discussion on electricity and water supply to the districts.

While distribution of relief materials has earlier started in the state Capital post the severe cyclonic storm FANI, the CM yesterday directed officials concerned to begin the same in other parts of the district from Wednesday (today). Even as water supply has almost been restored in the two districts, the CM directed to accelerate restoration of telecom and important infrastructures destroyed in the cyclone. Besides, steps are afoot to introduce cell tower on wheels (COWs) in the pilgrim town till normalcy resumes.

Chief Secretary AP Padhi, Development Commissioner Asit Tripathy and Collectors and officials in charge of both the districts were present at the meeting.
