Cyclone Jawad: Rainfall, Wind Warning issued for several Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar: The Regional Meteorological Centre here has issued rainfall and wind warning for several districts of Odisha in view of the forecasted Cyclone ‘Jawad’ over the Bay of Bengal, which is likely to reach north Andhra Pradesh-­Odisha coasts by the morning of December 4.

Under its influence, rainfall activities will commence from the evening/ night of December 3, it said.

Rainfall Warning:

December 3: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri and Jagatsinghpur.

December 4: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Balasore, Jajpur with extremely heavy falls at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Puri and Jagatsinghpur.

December 5: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to continue over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Cuttack, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal and Mayurbhanj.

Wind Warning:

Squally wind speed reaching 50­-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph over southeast & adjoining east central Bay of Bengal on 2nd December. Gale winds speed reaching 65­-75 kmph gusting to 85 kmph likely to prevail over central Bay of Bengal from the early morning of 3rd December and gradually increase becoming 90­-100 kmph gusting to 110 kmph over northwest & adjoining west central Bay of Bengal from the morning of 4th December for the subsequent 24 hours.

Squally wind speed reaching 45­-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph likely to commence along & off North Andhra Pradesh–Odisha coast from the mid­night of 3rd December and increase gradually becoming 70-­80 kmph gusting to 90 kmph from 4th December Afternoon, for the subsequent 12 hours.
