Cyclone Jawad to make landfall in Puri!

Bhubaneswar: Possible Cyclone Jawad is likely to make a landfall somewhere in Puri district, informed Special Relief Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Jena here today.

The deep depression over the Bay of Bengal, which may turn into a cyclonic storm during next 8-10 hours, is likely to hit Puri by December 4 evening or December 5 morning with a maximum wind speed of 90 kmph gusting upto 100 kmph.

According to forecast by India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclonic storm is likely to recurve northnortheastwards in the sea and move along north coastal Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coasts during the subsequent 24 hours with a maximum sustained wind speed of 80-90 kmph after landfall.

The wind speed of the cyclone may gradually decrease after touching Odisha coast, Jena said.
