Cyclone Jawad UPDATE: Warnings issued for Odisha’s Twin City

Bhubaneswar: In view of the impending cyclonic storm Jawad, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Regional Centre here issued heavy to very heavy rainfall and gusty wind warnings for the Twin City of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.

For today( from 8.30 am of December 4-8.30 am of December 5), the Regional MeT Centre issued Orange Warning predicting that heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur some parts of the Twin City.

The weathermen also issued wind warning of 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph  in the areas during the period.

Possible impact: 

-Waterlogging in low-lying areas and closure of underpasses

-Occasional reduction in visibility during intense spells of rain

-Disruption of traffic due to waterlogging of roads leading to increased travel time

-Breaking of tree branches

For December 5 (from 8.30 am of Dec 5 -8.30 am of Dec 6), the MeT Centre issued Yellow Warning.

“Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely  to occur in some parts of Cuttack city area and heavy rainfall is very likely to occur in Bhubaneswar city area. Besides, wind with 40-50 kmph speed gusting to 60 kmph is likely to occur during the period,” said the weathermen.
