Mohapatra said the earlier order cancelling leave of government employees in view of Cyclone Kyant likely to hit Odisha has been also withdrawn.

The SRC said the caution for fishermen venturing into the sea, however, remains unchanged.

The state government took the decision to lift the alerts following Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) stating in its bulletin today that cyclonic storm Kyant forming over the Bay of Bengal has weakened into a deep depression.

The IMD bulletin said the deep depression has moved further west-southwestwards with a speed of 18 kmph and lay centred at about 415 km south of Gopalpur.

It is most likely to move west-southwestwards and weaken further into a depression during the next 24 hours.
