Cyclone Mandous: Rain likely in Odisha from tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: Even though Cyclone Mandous has no direct impact on Odisha, a few places over the districts of the state may receive rainfall from tomorrow under influence of the system over Bay of Bengal.

As per forecast by the regional meteorological centre of IMD, light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Malkangiri and Koraput from December 9 to 10 morning.

There will be no large change in Minimum temperature (Night temperature) during next 24 hours. Thereafter, the night temperature is likely to rise by 2-4 degree Celsius over the districts of Odisha.

According to IMD, Cyclone Mandous is likely to intensify into Severe Cyclone Storm by today evening. It is likely to make a landfall between Puducherry and Sriharikota as the Cyclonic Storm tomorrow.

“Cylonic Storm Mandous about 420km east-southeast of Karaikal, intensify into Severe Cyclonic Storm by today evening. It is likely to move westnorthwestwards, weaken into Cyclonic Storm and cross north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and south Andhra Pradesh coast between Puducherry and Sriharikota around Mahabalipuram as Cyclonic Storm around midnight of December 9 (Friday),” the IMD stated in its bulletin.
