Cyclone Michaung: ECoR, Southern Railway issue helpline numbers; more trains cancelled

Bhubaneswar: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has made all arrangements for managing the effects of cyclone Michaung under its jurisdiction.

Taking advantage of early meteorological forecasts and the earlier experience in management of disasters, the ECoR has planned for early restoration of train traffic and railway tracks in view of the cyclone, said an official.

Round-the-Clock Disaster Management Cells have been opened at ECoR headquarters in Odisha capital here and divisional headquarters at Visakhapatnam, Khurda Road and Sambalpur.

ECoR General Manager Manoj Sharma has advised officials to remain alert with continuous monitoring of vulnerable locations and early mobilization of resources for quick restoration of tracks, signalling system and OHE installations, he added.

The ECoR has issued helpline numbers 0674 – 2301525, 2301626 and 2303060 for its Bhubaneswar control room. The helpline numbers for Visakhapatnam and Khurda Road control rooms will be issued tomorrow, said the official.

Cancellation of Trains:

The Railways have cancelled some more trains under the ECoR jurisdiction in view of the cyclone. The list includes:

  1. 17482 Tirupati-Bilaspur Express from Tirupati on 03.12.2023.
  2. 17481 Bilaspur-Tirupati Express from Bilaspur on 05.12.2023.
  3. 17480 Tirupati-Puri Express from Tirupati on 04.12.2023.
  4. 17479 Puri – Tirupati Express from Puri on 06.12.2023.
  5. 12509 Bengaluru-Guwahati Express from Bengaluru on 6th & 7th December, 2023.
  6. 18190 Ernakulam-Tata Express from Ernakulam on 06.12.2023.

The Southern Railway has also opened help desks and additional enquiry counters at several places to provide assistance to passengers.

It has issued helpline numbers 04425330714 (Chennai Central), 9003161811 (Chennai Egmore) and emergency booth numbers 044-25354153, 044-25330952 and 044-25330953 to provide necessary assistance and guidance to passengers, sources said.
