Cyclone ‘Titli’ in Odisha: Damage estimation increases to Rs 2765 cr, 60 lakh affected

Bhubaneswar: Odisha has incurred a damage amounting to Rs 2765 crore under the impact of cyclonic storm ‘Titli’ and subsequent flood, informed Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Bishnupada Sethi today.

Further additional estimation of damage is underway and a final report in this regard will be submitted to the Centre today, the SRC said.

According to official sources, 60.11 lakh people of 17 districts (Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kandhamal, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Khordha, Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh, Puri, Angul and Rayagada) were affected in the cyclone and flood.

While 57 persons died, 34951 livestock got lost. Similarly, 2,63,367 hectares of crop area and 56930 houses were damaged, sources added.
