Cyclone Yaas: Flood threat looms large in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj

Bhubaneswar: Heavy to very heavy rainfall triggered by Cyclone Yaas is likely to cause flash flood in Budhabalanga river and affect Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.

The Mayurbhanj Collector has ordered for evacuation from villages and habitations close to the river in the district.

After landfall in Balasore district, the cyclone is likely to move northwestwards across interior districts of Odisha and weaken gradually. It is likely to maintain the intensity of Cyclonic Storm till the early morning of 27th May and weaken gradually into a depression over Jharkhand.

The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued heavy to very heavy rainfall warning for nine districts of Odisha, including Mayurbhanj till 8.30 AM of May 27.
