Cyclone Yaas: Know district-wise wind speed forecast for Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Cyclonic Storm Yaas over Bay of Bengal is likely to cross north Odisha-West Bengal coasts between Paradip and Sagar Islands around noon of 26th May as a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm. The Regional Meteorological Centre here has issued wind warning for several districts of Odisha from May 25 to May 27 in view of the cyclonic storm.

As per the forecast, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur districts are likely to experience wind speed of 150-160 kmph gusting to 180 kmph on May 26. Similarly, Mayurbhanj district is likely to experience wind speed of 120-130 kmph gusting to 150 kmph on May 26.

Likewise, wind speed reaching 70-80 kmph gusting to 90 kmph likely to occur in Jajpur, Cuttack and Puri districts on May 26.

Rainfall Warning

May 25: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Puri and Khurda (Orange Warning).

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal and Ganjam (Yellow Warning).

May 26: Heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places with isolated extremely heavy fall very likely to occur over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Dhenkanal (Red Warning).

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Angul, Deogarh, Khurda, Puri and Sundargarh (Yellow Warning).
