Cyclone Yaas makes landfall around Bahanaga: Odisha SRC

Bhubaneswar: Very Severe Cyclonic Storm Yaas made its landfall at 9 am north of Dhamra and south of Balasore around Bahanaga block coast, informed Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Kumar Jena.

The process is likely to continue for 3-4 hours, he added.

“Wind speed reaching 130-140 kmph gusting to 155 kmph along & off Bhadrak and Balasore, and 100-110 kmph gusting to 120 kmph along & off Kendrapara likely during landfall,” the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

Wind speed will decrease gradually after landfall becoming 65-75 kmph gusting to 85 kmph by evening, it said.

After landfall, the system is very likely to move northwestwards across interior districts of Odisha and weaken gradually, it added.
