Cyclonic circulation formed, more rains likely in Odisha

Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Bhubaneswar, July 24:

The weatherman has more bad news for the people of Odisha, who are just recovering from the first round of floods after incessant rains for three days triggered by a depression in the Bay of Bengal.

According to a release issued by the local Met office here this evening, a cyclonic circulation has formed over the north-west Bay of Bengal off the Odisha coast this morning, which is likely to take the shape of a low pressure area.

Under its influence, there would be widespread rainfall in coastal Odisha with heavy rainfall in one or two places in these regions in the next 48 hours. The intensity of rainfall will increase in the state after July 27 and continue till July 31, the release added.

With no rains for three days, the flood situation in Odisha is limping back to normalcy. Water levels in Baitarani and Hati have receded considerably during these three days.

But with today’s prediction of more rains, people in the state, especially those living in the coastal areas, are bracing for a fresh round of floods.
