Bhubaneswar: A cyclonic circulation is very likely to form over the Bay of Bengal around June 26, said the IMD today.

Due to the impact of the cyclonic circulation, the rainfall activities will intensify in Odisha from June 26, said IMD regional Director Manorama Mohanty.

As per the IMD prediction, several districts in Odisha including Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Koraput, Ganjam, Bolangir, Nuapada, Bargarh, Nabarangpur and Malkangiri are very likely to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall from June 26 to June 28. The MeT Department has issued a yellow warning in this regard.

Besides, the IMD has predicted light to moderate rain or thundershower across the state during the next five years.

Thunderstorm and lightening accompanied by gusty surface winds reaching up to the speed of 30-40 km per hours are very likely to occur in many districts during the next three days, said Mohanty.

“The southwest monsoon has covered all 30 districts in Odisha. Six districts in the state have recorded the normal rain while the remaining 24 reported deficit rainfall. The state has received 91.8 mm rainfall so far. This is 41 per cent less than the normal rainfall of 154.6 mm,” she added.
