Cyclonic storm Titli: Red alert issued for these Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar: With the cyclonic storm Titli intensified into very severe cyclonic storm over westcentral Bay of Bengal, the Regional Meteorological Centre issued red alert for seven districts for today.

The red warning was issued for the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak and Balasore of Odisha for today till 8.30 pm of Oct 11.

The orange warning was given for Khordha, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Rayagada, Kandhamal and Keonjhar districts for today till tomorrow.

Similarly, the MeT issued red alert for Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Rayagada, Koraput, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Boudhm Balangir, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Khordha, Nayagarh, Cuttack Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Bhadrak and Balasore for tomorrow till Oct 12.

Extremely heavy rainfall is likely at few places over the districts Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Nayagarh for tomorrow.

As per MeT, the latest observation indicated that the very severe cyclonic storm Titli over westcentral Bay of Bengal moved northwestwards with a speed of about 18kmph during past six hours and lay centered at 2.30 pm today near latitude of 17.2 degree north and longitude 85.5 degree east, about 230 km south-southeast of Gopalpur of Odisha and 190 km southeast of Kalingapatnam of Andhra Pradesh. It is likely to intensify further during next 12 hours.
