Dacoits loot Rs 5,25,000 from bank at toy gunpoint in Odisha

Four masked dacoits today robbed Rs 5,25,000 at gunpoint from the HDFC bank at Siminai village under Dhenkanal Sadar police limits in Dhenkanal district of Odisha.

According to reports, four miscreants entered into the bank this afternoon when only two customers were waiting to deposit a sum of Rs 45,000.

The wrongdoers threatened the customers with dire consequences and snatched away the money from them with Rs 4,80,000 from the cashier of the bank at gunpoint.

They fled away the spot soon after committing the crime.

Two customer were injured during the robbery going to protest the robbers.

“Four masked persons barged into the bank with guns and sharp weapons and threatened us. They damaged computers, printer, cash counting machine and CCTV cameras installed in the bank and fled away with the cash on gunpoint,” said a bank official.

Police rushed the spot being informed about the incident and started probe.

So far, police have seized two toy guns used in the dacoity.

” At around 12.15 pm this afternoon, two to four miscreants entered into the bank with sharp weapons and fled with Rs 4,80,000 from bank threatening the employees. They also looted cash, valuables and mobile phones from customers,” said Dhenkanal Sadar SDPO Niranjan Patra.

We are probing into the incident collecting the CCTV footage, he added.
