Dacoity bid foiled; 7 arrested in Odisha’s Koraput

Koraput: Foiling a dacoity bid, police arrested seven persons near Jayantigiri bridge under Borigumma police limits in Koraput district late last night.

Sources said out of the seven arrested, four identified as Shankar Singh, Sandip Kumar, Pulihay Kaushik and Kisan Kashyap are from Uttar Pradesh. The rest three, Dalapati Harijan, Jagannath Gouda ad Sundhar Gadaba are residents of Borigumma area.

Acting on a tip-off, a police patrolling team conducted a raid on the State Highway near the Jayantigiri bridge and nabbed the seven dacoits. The cops also seized a car and various arms and ammunition, including two swords from their possession.

Meanwhile, an FIR has been registered at the Borigumma police station and investigation is on into the incident.
