Dacoity bid foiled in Angul; 5 held, 5 absconding   

Angul:  Busting a dacoity gang, Banrapala police in Angul district arrested five members of the gang while they had gathered on NH-55 near Joragadia village to commit a loot in the locality. However, the cops failed to nab five other members of of the gang.

Police said the 10 members of the gang had hatched a conspiracy to commit a loot in Joragadia area and had gathered near the locality on NH-55 late last night. A police team led by Banrapala police station IIC Kanak Majhi and ASI Naresh Chandra Singh spotted them while conducting a patrolling at around 2.30 AM. Suspecting their activities, the cops detained five members of the gang while five others managed to escape.

The arrested identified as Jitendra Behera (32), Jagannath Nayak (19), Daitari Nayak (36), Manu Jena (26) and Subrat Nayak (30)  wee later forwarded to court today.

The five absconding will soon be arrested, said IIC Majhi.
