Dacoity bid foiled in Odisha’s Sambalpur; five arrested    

Sambalpur: Foiling a dacoity bid, the Sambalpur Sadar police arrested five dacoits and seized a huge cache of weapons from their possession here late last night.

The cops also seized two pistols, two live bullets, a bike and several sharp weapons from their possession.

Acting on a tip-off about the dacoity plan of the five accused, a police team conducted a raid and nabbed them near a petrol pump near the Pitabali temple here.

The arrested are Asish Panigrahi (29) of Dhanupali, Rupeswar Majhi (23) of Kandeipada, Pramod Mahananda (23) of Binakhandi, Swarup Barai of Remed and Somnath Jhankar (24) of Sahu Colony here, said a police official of Sambalpur Sadar PS .
