Dalit woman kidnapped, gang raped in Odisha’s Kendrapara dist

Kendrapara, July 14:

A 28 year old dalit woman was allegedly kidnapped and later gang-raped by at least three persons in Odisha’s Kendrapara district, reports said.

The victim, a married woman, was waylaid from near her in-laws’ house in Badagaon village under Marshaghai police station jurisdiction last week. However the incident came to light following the complaint lodged by the victim today.

The offenders exploited the victim sexually at different locations during the week. Later, they freed her while warning her against making the matter public.

The victim, who mustered the courage to report the matter to the police, has named the three persons who have sexually abused her in her complaint, the police said.

The victim has been medically examined and her statement has been duly recorded.

A case under section 376 Indian Penal Code has been registered while manhunt is on to arrest the offenders, said Sub Divisional Police Officer, Nrusingha Charan Swain.
