DAV School student ends life fearing poor results in Board exam

Dhenkanal: A Class 12 student of DAV Public School NTPC, Talcher Thermal was found hanging inside his residence at IGIT Sarang quarters in Parjang police station area of Dhenkanal district yesterday.

The deceased identified as Abhinas (18) was the son of Anand Chandra Pradhan, who works at Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (IGIT) Sarang as a Lab Assistant

The incident took place when his parents had gone outside to attend a wedding reception and his elder sister was in deep sleep in the house last afternoon. The minor boy went to another room of the house and hanged himself from the ceiling.

Though the exact reason behind his death is yet to be ascertained, a suicide note recovered from the house indicates that the teenager allegedly ended his life fearing poor results in the ongoing Board examination.

In the suicide note, he mentioned that his parents are not responsible for his suicide. Rather, he himself was expecting to score 90 % mark in the board exam and the fear of not living up to his own expectation made him take the extreme step.

Meanwhile, a police team reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. An investigation into the incident has already been initiated, said police.
