DD anchor, Odisha Journalist dies of COVID-19

Bhawanipatna: Condolences poured in from different quarters in Odisha after journalist, Doordarshan (DD-2) anchor and theatre artiste Bhanu Prakash Rath succumbed to the deadly COVID-19 yesterday.

He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Visakhapatnam for the last 20 days and breathed his last yesterday.

Bhanu, a native of Kalahandi, was also a noted announcer of his district and BJP Media Cell In-charge. He also worked with few other regional newspapers and new channels.  

Several organisations, journalists, intellectuals and leaders cutting across party lines termed his death as an irreparable loss for Kalahandi district.

Leader of Opposition (LoP) Pradipta Naik, Minister of State (Home) Dibya Shankar Mishra, MP Basant Panda, Congress leader Bhakta Das, BJP district president Debendra Mohanty, Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi Secretary Prabodh Rath  and Kalahandi Lekhak Kala Parishad president Umesh Panda have, among others, expressed their grief over the demise of Bhanu.
