Dead woman carried on cot for non-motorable road in Odisha

Bhawanipatna: Expectant mothers and patients being carried on cot in remote Odisha villages is becoming a regular affair. Courtesy: nonavailability of vehicle or inaccessible villages.

A similar case was reported from tribal-dominated Kalahandi district as a dead woman was carried on cot due to non-motorable road to the village. The relatives of the deceased had to carry the body for 5 km to reach their village.

The incident took place at Bagabila village under Dedhasuli panchayat of Madanpur Rampur block in the district this morning.

According to sources, the deceased Jamunti Majhi was admitted to Bolangir District Headquarters Hospital yesterday. However, she died while undergoing treatment.

The Ambulance staff provided service till Bodensara village as they could not move further due to bumpy road. The kin of the deceased had to arrange a cot to carry the deceased to their village.
