Debrigarh tiger death: Odisha CB takes 4 accused on remand; 2 more arrested

Bargarh:  The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch today took the four accused arrested in connection with the death of a tiger, whose carcass was found in Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary in Bargarh last month, on a two-day remand.

The STF today appealed the Bargarh Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) for a two-day remand of the four accused identified as Sushil Bhoi, Satyaban Sahu, Gauri Mirddha and Jakaria Tidu. After the court allowed the cops to take the four on remand, a team of the investigating agency led by Crime Branch DSP Bilasini Nayak took the accused to Bargarh Town police station for further interrogation.

Meanwhile, police arrested two more persons in connection with the incident.

Earlier on November 4, Forest and Environment Department Additional Chief Secretary Suresh Mohapatra had confirmed that the animal carcass discovered from a pit near the Debrigarh wildlife sanctuary on October 29 is of a Royal Bengal tiger.
