Bhubaneswar: Police have recovered a decomposed body of a minor girl in Nandan Vihar Housing Board Colony of Bhubaneswar on Friday evening. While neither the identity nor the exact cause of death has been ascertained yet, the deceased is believed to be around 10-12 years old.

While the body has been sent to Capital hospital for postmortem, police said it may have to resort to posters to identify the deceased which has not been possible due to the body's decomposed state.

As per reports, the minor girl's body was found in a decomposed state between two rows of houses on Friday evening after foul smell emanated from the area prompting locals to become suspicious and inform the police.

Infocity police, which is probing the incident, said no missing complaint has been filed recently from the areas under its jurisdiction. Preliminary investigation does not rule out sexual assault and murder and investigation is underway to probe all possible angles in this connection. A case of un-natural death has been registered. Further details will emerge after the autopsy report arrives, official sources informed.
