Deep Depression forms over Bay of Bengal, to cross coast between Balasore-Sagar Islands

Bhubaneswar: The Depression over Northwest and adjoining Northeast Bay of Bengal has intensified into a Deep Depression, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The system is likely to cross coast between Balasore and Sagar Islands by this evening, the agency added.

On the other hand, the Regional Meteorological Centre here has issued Red Warning and Orange Warning for several districts of Odisha for today in view of the Deep Depression.

Red Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at a few places with extremely heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir and Jajpur.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khordha, Rayagada, Gajapati, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Malkangiri and Puri.
