Deep Depression: IMD issues Yellow Warning in these Odisha districts on October 24

Bhubaneswar: Due to the Deep Depression over westcentral Bay of Bengal moving northeastwards with a speed of 13 kmph, which is likely to intensify into a Cyclonic Storm, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over 18 districts of Odisha during next 24 hours, India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre here forecasted today.

In its evening bulletin, the IMD said, “The Deep Depression over Westcentral Bay of Bengal moved northeastwards with a speed of 13 kmph during past 6 hours and lay centered at 0830 hours IST of today, the 23rd October over the same region, near latitude 17.0°N and longitude 86.8°E, about 360 km south of Paradip (Odisha), 510 km south-southwest of Digha (West Bengal) and 660 km south-southwest of Khepupara (Bangladesh). It is likely to intensify into a Cyclonic Storm during the next 6 hours. It is very likely to move nearly north-northeastwards and cross Bangladesh coast between Khepupara and Chittagong around the evening of 25th October as a Deep Depression.”

Warning for Fishermen:

Fishermen are advised not to venture into westcentral Bay of Bengal till 25th October and along and off Odisha coast and north Bay of Bengal from 23rd to 26th October 2023. Fishermen who are in the deep sea are advised to return to the coast.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, at a few places over the rest districts of coastal Odisha, at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri and dry weather likely over the rest districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be Updated)- Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bhadrak, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur.

For Tuesday (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 24.10.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 25.10.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, at a few places over the rest districts of Coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and at one or two places over the districts of over the rest districts of Odisha.
