Delinking of junior, degree colleges to take 3-4 yrs: Odisha Min

Bhubaneswar: After separation of junior and degree colleges in Odisha, state government is planning to take more time to delink the colleges for smooth bifurcation.

The teaching and non-teaching staff will remain in +3 colleges in phases and fresh recruitment will be made in +2 colleges. The delinking process will take 3-4 years, informed Higher Education Minister Arun Sahoo here today.

After attending a joint meeting of School & Mass Education and Higher Education department on separation of +2 and +3 colleges, Sahoo said that there will be separate infrastructure for both +2 and +3 colleges.

However, the existing system operational in many composite colleges having both +2 and +3 on one campus will continue till complete separation.

Even as there are composite colleges in the state, the classes are being held separately, he added.

Worth mentioning, the state government has separated +2 courses from the Higher Education department. The bifurcation process was implemented in 2016-17 academic session. While +2 came under School and Mass Education Department, +3 continued to remain with Higher Education Department.
