Demanding eggs from complainant proves costly for Odisha cop

Balangir: An ASI posted at Saintala police station in Odisha’s Balangir district was placed under suspension for allegedly demanding bribe from a complainant.

Balangir SP Madkar Sandeep Sampat suspended the accused ASI, identified as Jagdish Mahanand.

According to reports, one Ashish Sahu of the area had on September 12 gone to the police station for lodging a complaint pertaining to a dispute. Before registering a case, ASI Mahanand asked Sahu to bring eggs for him.

Few days ago, some officials had telephoned Sahu under the ‘Mo Sarkar’ initiative of the State Government, during which he revealed about the incident. Later, a senior police official was directed to probe into the matter.

On the basis of findings of the probe, the ASI was suspended today.
