Demanding grace marks, parents lock CBSE office in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: Members of the Odisha Abhibhavak Mahasangh, a body comprising parents of CBSE students in the state, today locked up the main gate of the board’s regional office at Sailashree Vihar here demanding grace marks for examinees of the annual Class-X examination conducted by CBSE.

The association members, who also staged a dharna in front of the main gate, have sought grace marks for the students in Science, Hindi and Mathematics subjects alleging that some questions in the examinations were out of syllabus.

While the Hindi paper had no proper instruction for students in two questions, a question in Science paper was out of syllabus. This apart, set 1 and 3 of Mathematics question paper were comparatively difficult than set 2, they alleged.

The Mahasangh members further alleged that many private schools in the state are not using NCERT books, thereby violating CBSE’s instructions.
