Bhubaneswar: BJD's Organisational Secretary and former Odisha MLA Pranab Prakash Das cleared the air on demolition activity at his government quarter in Bhubaneswar.
Criticising media channels for airing 'unverified' news, he made it clear that the demolition activity was being carried out by himself as per proper rules and procedures.
"I heard a news being circulated in media that some people forcefully were carrying out the demolition activity at my quarter. They should know that the quarter is still in my possession till July 15, 2024. I have received a notice to vacate the quarter by July 4. I have talked to the GA Department regarding it and will vacate on time," Das said in a video message soon after news surfaced on TV channels about the demolition of the government quarter.
The former BJD MLA came down heavily on a particular news channel and a few newspapers that have been continuously reporting about the quarter, which has reportedly a bunker underground of the quarter.
"It's so sad to hear misleading news. As I was the organisational secretary of the BJD, all the party leaders and workers used to visit me. To make sitting arrangements for the visitors and receive their grievances, I had built a temporary extension on premises of my quarter. I have already told the GA Department to leave the quarter on time by following all procedures. I will hand over the quarter as it was allotted to me before. I am doing everything as per the rules," he clarified.
Earlier in the day, there were reports in the media that the government quarter in possession of former Jajpur MLA Pranab Prakash Das at Unit-6 area in Bhubaneswar was being demolished.
Worth mentioning that Pranab Prakash Das, also popularly known as Bobby Das, was allotted the government quarter No. VIIIMR-1 at Unit-6 area in June 2019 as per the rule after he was elected to State Legislative Assembly from Jajpur. After he took possession of the newly allotted quarter, the GA Department cancelled the previously allotted government quarter No. VIIC-3, Unit-1 in Bhubaneswar.
