Denied money to buy drugs, man kills mother in Odisha

Talcher: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly killed his mother as she refused to give him money to buy drugs at Ghantapada village under Colliery police limits in Angul district last night.

The deceased has been identified Julei Biswal (62).

Sources said a heated argument ensued between Julei and his son Manoj last night after the elderly woman refused to give him money to buy drugs. The situation turned violent when Manoj went on beating his mother and later attacked her with a sharp weapon.

Though the critically-injured woman was later rushed to a nearby hospital, doctors declared her dead.

Meanwhile, a police team reached the spot and launched an investigation into the incident.

The accused has been detained and he is being interrogated, said police.
