Dense fog alert issued for Odisha districts; mercury to dip again

Bhubaneswar: Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, issued dense fog warning for several places during next two days.

The dense fog is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur and Boudh during today to tomorrow morning.

The dense fog alert has been issued for one or two places of as many as 18 districts during December 31 and January 1. The districts included Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khordha, Puri, Balasore, Kalahandi and Sonepur.

The mercury may dip again across Odisha with gradual fall in night temperature by 3 to 5 degree Celsius during next 4 to 5 days.

Meanwhile, Odisha may witness moderate rainfall at several places today and tomorrow morning under influence of western disturbance.

The Western Disturbance as a cyclonic circulation over northeast Uttar Pradesh & neighbourhood now lies over East Uttar Pradesh & adjoining Bihar extending upto 3.1 km above mean sea level with the trough, the MeT said in a bulletin today.

According to MeT forecast, Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Mayurbhanj and at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha. Such weather conditions may last from today till tomorrow morning.
