Dense fog disrupts flight operations at Bhubaneswar airport

Bhubaneswar:  Dense fog enveloped several parts of the State, leading to disruption in flight operations at the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Odisha capital today morning due to low visibility, an official said.

Arrivals and departures have largely been put on hold at the airport. Some flights were also diverted in the morning, he added.

The exact number of flights delayed and diverted will be shortly informed, said BPIA Director Suresh Chandra Hota.

A thick blanket of fog affected normal life at several places in the State, including the Twin City of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar this morning affecting the normal life. Visibility was reduced due to foggy weather here early in the morning.

Normal movement of vehicular traffic was also affected at many places in the State due to fog while several trains were reported running late due to reduced visibility caused by the foggy weather.

Early-risers and morning-walkers in the city faced a tough time on Saturday as dense fog enveloped the city from about 6 a.m. to 8 a.m., and visibility was next to nil.

Meanwhile, the Met Department at Bhubaneswar has predicted that the fog situation will continue for the next couple of days and the temperature will further dip in next 24 hours.
