Depression forms over bay, heavy rainfall in Odisha likely

Bhubaneswar: Several districts of Odisha are likely to experience heavy rainfall as the well-marked low pressure area over east central & adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal concentrated into a depression over west central Bay of Bengal this morning.

The system is very likely to intensify further into a deep depression during the next 24 hours. It is very likely to move west-northwestwards and cross north Andhra Pradesh coast between Narsapur and Vishakhapatnam during October 12 night, the India Meteorological Department said.

Here’s the weather forecast for Odisha in connection with the depression:

October 11: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Rayagada, Jagatsinghpur, Malkangiri and Koraput.

October 12: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Puri and Koraput.

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara and Bhadrak.

October 13: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Gajapati and Rayagada.
