Bhubaneswar: A depression forming over the Bay of Bengal is all set to intensify moderate to heavy rainfall in several parts of Odisha between August 5 and 8, the weatherman said today.
“A cyclonic circulation lies over northwest Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood, which extends up to 7.6km above mean sea level having a tilt of southwestwards with height, and under its influence a low pressure area is likely to form during next 2-3 days,” the regional office of India Meteorological Office said here this evening.
Since Monsoon depressions take a track of west-northwest direction to the south of monsoon trough, the track of the likely depression in BoB will induce heavy rainfall over Odisha during the period of August 5 – 8, it added.
Meanwhile, the Met office has also predicted heavy rainfall across Odisha till August 2.
Fishermen were advised not to venture into the sea in the next 48 hours.
