Depression may form over Bay of Bengal around tomorrow; cyclone formation during subsequent 48 hrs

Bhubaneswar: The low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a depression around tomorrow while the system may become a cyclonic storm during the subsequent 48 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

“The Low Pressure Area over south Andaman Sea & adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal now lies as a Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Southeast Bay of Bengal & adjoining South Andaman Sea. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a Depression over southeast Bay of Bengal around 30th November. Thereafter, it is likely to move northwestwards and intensify further into a Cyclonic Storm over Southwest & adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal during subsequent 48 hours,” the agency said in its morning bulletin today.

Fishermen the sea off east coast of India (from north Tamil Nadu to Odisha) have been advised to return to coast by 1st December.
