The depression over North Bay of Bengal is likely to trigger heavy rainfall in north and south Odisha in the next 24 hours, the Meteorological Department predicted today.

The Depression over North Bay of Bengal has moved Northwestwards and lay centered at 8.30 am of today near Latitude 21.50 N & Longitude 88.50 E about 160 Km East of Balasore. The system is likely to move West-Northwestwards and cross West Bengal Coast close to Digha by today afternoon or evening, the local Meteorological Centre said in a bulletin.
Rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over north Odisha and many places over south Odisha during next 24 hours, it forecasted, adding that heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over north Odisha and heavy rainfall at one or two places over districts of south Odisha during next 24 hours
Local Cautionary Signal number three (LC-III) has been hoisted at all ports in Odisha.
Strong gusty surface wind from Northwesterly direction with speed reaching 45 to 55 kmph gusting 65 kmph may prevail along and off Odisha coast. Sea condition would be rough to very rough in Odisha coast. Sea wave height may increase upto 3 to 4 meters, the bulletin added.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into sea in Odisha Coast.
