Bhubaneswar: The depression over Bay of Bengal is likely to weaken gradually during next 12 hours. The system is likely to cross Odisha coast by today evening, the regional MeT stated.

According to IMD, the depression over Bay of Bengal lay centered at 0530 IST of 20th July over Odisha coast near Chilika Lake about 40 km south-southwest of Puri (Odisha) and 70 km East-Northeast of Gopalpur (Odisha). It is likely to move further northwestwards across Odisha and Chhattisgarh and weaken gradually into a well marked low pressure area during next 12 hours.

Under the influence of the above system, heavy rain is likely to continue at several places in southern Odisha districts.

The IMD issued an orange and yellow alert for the following districts till July 24.

From July 20 to July 21 morning: Orange warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall(7 to 20cm) very likely to occurat one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur, Kalahandi,Rayagada, Ganjam, and Gajapati.

Yellow warning: Heavy Rainfall(7 to 11cm) very likely to occurat one or two places over the districts of Kandhamal, Cuttack, Bargarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Nuapada, Bolangir, Nayagarh, Cuttack and Khordha.

July 21-22: Yellow warning: Heavy Rainfall(7 to 11cm) very likely to occurat one or two places over the districts of Bolangir, Nuapada, Kandhamal, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapada.

July 22-23: Yellow warning: Heavy Rainfall(7 to 11cm) very likely to occurat one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Bhadrak.

July 23-24: Yellow warning: Heavy Rainfall(7 to 11cm) very likely to occurat one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur, Kalahandi, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar.

July 24-25:Yellow warning: Heavy Rainfall(7 to 11cm) very likely to occurat one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput and Nawarangpur.
