Depression to weaken in 12 hours; Rainfall likely in these Odisha dists today

Bhubaneswar: The depression over south Chhattisgarh is likely to weaken in the next 12 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its bulletin this morning.

“The Depression over south Chhattisgarh moved nearly north-northwestwards with a speed of 18 kmph during past 06 hours and lay centered at 0530 hrs IST of today, the 12th September 2022, over south Chhattisgarh and adjoining southeast Madhya Pradesh & Vidarbha near latitude 20.8°N and longitude 80.8°E, about 95 km south-southeast of Gondia (Vidarbha) and 185 km southeast of Seoni (Madhya Pradesh). It is likely to move nearly north-westwards and weaken gradually during next 12 hours,” the IMD said in its bulletin.

On the other hand, the Regional Meteorological Centre here has predicted that several districts of Odisha are likely to experience heavy rainfall today.

“Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Nuapada, Bargarh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Boudh, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Kandhamal,” the Meteorological Centre forecasted and issued Yellow Warning for these districts.
