Depression weakens; another low pressure brewing over Bay of Bengal

Bhubaneswar: Depression over north coastal Tamil Nadu weakened into a well marked low pressure and another low pressure is brewing over the Bay of Bengal.

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Depression over north coastal Tamil Nadu weakened into a well marked low pressure area and lay centered over north Tamil Nadu and neighbourhood today.

Under its impact, light to moderate rainfall at most places with heavy rainfall at isolated places very likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, and south interior Karnataka and Kerala today.

Meanwhile, a cyclonic circulation lies over Gulf of Thailand and neighbourhood and extends upto 5.8 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height. It is likely to emerge into south Andaman Sea and Neighbourhood.

Under its influence, a fresh low pressure area is likely to form over south Andaman Sea by November 13. It is likely to move west­-northwestwards and concentrate into a Depression over Eastcentral and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal on November 15.

Due to possible system over the sea, rainfall occurred at several places in Odisha in the morning.

Light to moderate rainfall continued at some places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Kandhamal and Rayagada, Bhubaneswar Regional Meteorological Centre tweeted.
