Despite bad weather, Odisha CM distributes smart health card in Sundargarh

Rourkela: After Malkangiri and Kalahandi, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today launched distribution of smart health card under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) to beneficiaries in Sundargarh district.

Despite  bad weather condition, the CM attended a special event organised at IGH here as Chief Guest and distributed the smart health card among the beneficiaries. Twelve Ministers were present in 17 blocks for distribution of the health card. Today, 4,37, 333 beneficiaries in the district, including 68,575  in the Steel City availed the card.

The programme will benefit total 15,09,631 people in the district, including 2,23,418 in Rourkela alone.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM reiterated, “4.5 crore people of the state are my family and every life is precious to me. My aim is to ensure healthcare services to all.”

On the occasion, Patnaik also inaugurated and laid foundation stone of different projects worth Rs 580.82 crore. Among others, Health Minister Naba Das and MLAs Sarada Prasad Nayak and Subrat Tarai were present.

The Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana was launched on 15th August, 2018 to provide universal health coverage, with special emphasis on the health protection of economically vulnerable families. Through the smart health card under the healthcare scheme, each family can avail treatment cost upto Rs 5 lakh per annum (Rs 10 lakh for women members).

All Biju Krushak Kalyan Yojana card holders, BPL card holders, AAY card holders and low income families are eligible to avail the benefit
