Devotee donates gold and silver ornaments to Odisha’s Puri Jagannath temple

Puri: A devotee from Ahmedabad of Gujarat today donated gold and silver ornaments to the Holy Trinity in Puri Jagannath temple, including two gold Chitas (Tilaks) and three silver crowns (Mukuts).

The ornaments meant for daily use were handed over to Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) officials by the devotee Chirag Chinubhai Patel. The cost of the gold ornaments weighing around 1.075 grams would be nearly Rs 75 lakh in the open market. The silver crowns were donated for use by Narayan, Sakshigopal, and other deities in the Vaishnavite shrine. The crowns would cost around Rs 1 lakh.

After performing a Puja by Chhatisa Nijog servitors namely Mahanayak Janardan Pattajoshi Mahapatra and senior Singhari Sevayat Madhusudan Singhari, the ornaments were carried in a procession before the handover. The gold and silver ornaments were crafted by some special goldsmiths from Gujarat as per the specific measurements provided by the SJTA, a servitor of the temple said.
