Devotees observe Kartika Sesha Somvar in Odisha’s undivided Koraput

Devotees in the undivided Koraput district of Odisha observed last Monday (Sesha Somvar) of the holy month Kartika with religious fervour and gaiety.

The famous Shaiva shrine of Lord Gupteswar in Koraput district was thronged by thousands of devotees from Sunday night onward.
Several devotees from the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh and Chhttisgarh arrived at Gupteswar in the early morning hours on Monday. After taking bath in Saberi river, the devotees poured water (Jalabhisheka) on the Lord’s idol inside the temple.

Apart from Gupteswar temple, there was also a heavy rush of devotees at other Siva temples at Mandadangari in Nabarangpur district and at Debagiri and Paikapada in Rayagada district.

More than 10,000 devotees had a darshan of the Lord at Debagiri, the reports said, adding that the district administration had made elaborate security arrangements in and around these temples for smooth conduct of the festival.
