Puri: Thousands of devotees today congregated at the Gopinath temple in Sakhigopal here to take part in the Radha Pada darshan ritual on the occasion of Anla Nabami.

Since early morning devotees made a beeline to view Goddess Radha’s feet on this auspicious day. They also got a chance to pay obeisance to the goddess decorated in traditional Odia woman costume.

A priest said viewing Radha’s feet and worshipping the amla tree on this day brings great fortune for worshippers.

The district administration made elaborate arrangements for hassle-free darshan by devotees and to maintain law and order. A total of 22 platoons of police force were deployed on the premises of the temple.

This apart, Puri Collector Balwant Singh and SP Uma Shankar Dash have been monitoring the situation so that any unpleasant situation  does not happen. The administration also installed CCTV cameras in the premises of the temple and outside to keep a close watch on crowd.
