Dilip Ray to rejoin BJD tomorrow!

Bhubaneswar: Former Union Minister Dilip Ray, who has resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) recently, is all set to rejoin the Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) tomorrow. He had quit the Saffron party in November last year citing being “sidelined” in the party for the past couple of years.

The speculations gained momentum after Ray rushed into Naveen Niwas (the residence of BJD President and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik) this evening and reportedly held a discussion with Patnaik.

Ray, who represents Rourkela in the Assembly, entered Naveen Niwas at 7.20 pm and and spent around 15 minutes inside the CM’s residence. He left without speaking to the media.

Though there has been no formal announcement was made in this regard, however, a source in the know of the development, said that the businessman-turned-politician is returning to the BJD tomorrow.

Ray, who had fallen foul with the BJP leadership for over three years, took to the social media to vent his anger against the Saffron party over two unfulfilled promises relating to the construction of a new bridge over the Brahmani River in Rourkela and upgradation of the existing Ispat General Hospital to a super speciality hospital.

He had expressed displeasure over the alleged negligence by the Centre towards construction of second bridge on the Brahmani River and upgradation of Ispat General Hospital (IGH) into a Super Specialty Hospital in Rourkela.

Ray had said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Rourkela in 2015 had announced a second bridge over the Brahmani River to improve road connectivity and upgradation of the IGH.

Ray, who had played a pivotal role in founding the BJD in 1997, was expelled by Naveen Patnaik for “anti-party” activity and contested (won) for a Rajya Sabha berth as independent candidate in 2002.
