Bhubaneswar: A direct flight from Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar to Sri Lankan capital Colombo will be launched very soon.
Sri Lanka's national carrier will operate the flight from Bhubaneswar to Colombo, informed Sri Lankan Airlines Regional Manager Veeraperumal Ravindran on Friday.
He said that Sri Lanka was recovering from economic crisis and the Sri Lankan Airlines was looking forward to add more destinations especially in India.
Earlier in pre-pandemic era, Sri Lankan Airlines was operating flight services in 11 destinations in India. Currently, the country's national air carrier is operating in nine destinations -- Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Cochin, Trivandrum, Chennai, Madurai and Trichy.
He said that Ahmedabad, Calicut and Goa are also in their plans. The Lankan carrier was also looking at Odisha and other lucrative markets.
