Discharged COVID-19 patient tests positive again in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A week after being discharged from a hospital following treatment for COVID-19, a woman in Pratapsasan area under Balianta Block on outskirts of Bhubaneswar has tested positive for coronavirus again, alarming the health and district authorities.

According to reports, the woman, who is a cancer patient, had tested positive for COVID-19 on August 7 following which she was admitted to a COVID hospital in Bhubaneswar. On August 16, she was discharged from the hospital after she recovered from the disease.

Source said that while being discharged from the hospital, she was asked to undergo COVID-19 swab test again at a dak bungalow in Balianta.

As per the suggestion of the hospital, the woman tested her swab whose report came out positive again on Saturday.

After she returned to home from the hospital, six family members including a 6-year-old girl fell sick.The locals alleged that the panchayat representative, medical team and block administration are yet to take initiative to facilitate treatment to her for cancer.

However, the recent COVID-19 test report raises question on treatment provided to Corona patients in COVID hospitals across the State.
