Dispute over bursting crackers on Diwali claims youth’s life in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: A youth was allegedly killed following a dispute over bursting of crackers during Diwali celebrations near Sundarpada under Airfield police limits in Odisha capital last night.

The deceased has been identified as Amaresh Nayak. Acting on a complaint, police have recovered the body and started investigation.

As per a complainant, Amaresh and his friends were bursting crackers and arranging a feast when a group of youths arrived at the spot and opposed the act. Later, they attacked Amaresh with sword leaving him critically injured. He was rushed to the Capital Hospital, where doctor declared him dead.

On the other hand, complaint has been lodged against more than 20 persons in this connection. Police have started investigation while most of the accused absconded after the death of the youth.
