Districts, civic bodies in Odisha asked to curb spread of vector-borne diseases

Bhubaneswar, June 10:

The Health and Family Welfare department of the Odisha government has asked the district administration and the civic bodies in the state to take early measures to curb the spread of dengue, chikungunya and other vector-borne diseases in the state during the approaching rainy season.

The directive was issued after a high-level review meeting on the status of 17 vector-borne diseases prone districts presided over by the principal secretary, Health and Family Welfare Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra at the State Secretariat here on Monday afternoon.

The meeting discussed about tackling the mosquito menace and other measures to curb vector-borne diseases.

Emphasis was given on intensifying statewide awareness campaigns on prevention and control of vector-borne diseases.
